Phil,

That is the great thing About the MagicJack. The receiving party can be a cell phone or a normal home phone. In fact, the other party will have no idea you are calling through your computer. Magic Jack Simply routes the phone call over the Internet. This technology is known as VoIP. There are a number of other services such as Vonage and Skype. However Magic Jack VoIP is by far the cheapest. I should that Skype is free but both parties have to be using a computer which is not very convenient.

Question: Does the receiving party also needs magic jack to receive your phone calls or they don't need to change anything on their phones?

Please send the answer to my email address, thank you.

Cindy,

You do not get free Internet with Magic Jack. You do have to pay for your Internet service. It is important that you have a solid internet connection. I have seen that if you have spotty internet service then it can definitely affect the quality of your phone calls made with the MagicJack. Most Dsl and Cable Internet connections should be sufficient for the Magic Jack phone.

Magic Jack is an excellent device for the price.
I had problem with it but I realized that it was my phone and not magic jack, so I bought a new phone. Since then I have not had any problem. Please don't complain about magic jack. all you need to do is simply change phone and make sure you click on END button.
good luck.
