Mighty Putty Saves The Day
When things break in a household, there’s no need to throw them away and buy new ones. In many cases, repairing is possible, provided that you have a strong adhesive like the As Seen On TV product Mighty Putty. Actually it’s not quite an adhesive, it’s more than that: a powerful bonding epoxy resin that is very flexible when you first mix its two substances and apply it, but hardens after about 20 or 30 minutes, allowing you to further polish, sand, paint or even drill it. Mighty Putty can go as far as to reconstruct a broken mug handle, thus allowing you to use your favorite mug again.
I’ve been using it on a leaking pipe in our bathroom and I’m impressed so far with the performance. I just hope it lasts at least several years. I found the Mighty Putty very easy to apply. I’ve used a knife to cut the required amount, then I kneaded the roll, in order to mix the white interior with the green exterior layer and to activate the epoxy. I’ve applied it quickly, on previously cleaned surfaces, then I pressed it very well and left it like that over night. Next morning, I let the water run through that leaking pipe again and I haven’t seen anymore leakage.
The manufacturer claims a Mighty Putty bond can support up to 350 lbs. Even if it doesn’t support all that weight, it’s still a good buy, taking into consideration that they currently run a promotion, offering you six Mighty Putty sticks for the price of two, which is $19.99 plus $8.95 shipping and handling. At this price, I think I’ll afford to fix my cast stone garden fountain which has been broken some time ago and which I thought I’d had to replace, because it couldn’t had been fixed anymore without visible cracks.
